We have tried a few other activities besides conformation showing and obedience.  One of the great advantages of the drover dogs is they can track, herd and pull carts.   Here is Zahn getting a carting started title or CS.  Her mom had one too but Dhargo doesnt fit his harness!

We have attended tracking classes as a starter and that went very well Someday we would like to find out if we can go herding.   Diamond and I did an agility beginners course and last year we taught Zahn and Dhargo how to walk an a-frame and go through the tunnel but we haven't quite gotten the weave poles mastered at any level.   The youngest member of the house, Roey,  has been doing therapy work since she as 8 weeks old and the folks at berks heim in berks county, PA just love her visits when we go see Uncle Jim!

Many years ago Nicky fancied herself as pretty athletic, so while horseback riding in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, she fell off Jack the horse who immediately ran back to the barn.  The stable owner owned some guard dogs who protected the horses at night and never let anyone in until she showed up.  It was also their job to go find a rider if a horse returned without one.  Upside down in an icy creek with a hoof mark on her arm, Nicky got a big giant slurp from a black and brown dog named Mama Bear.  It was love at first sight.  There were seven of them all together who all seemed very happy that the pack leader had done the job and each one required some rewarding pats and praise.  From then on, as soon as we had a home to accomadate one of these magnificent animals or two we would own one.  We even thought up their names! Percy and Dewey! Back then we didn't know that one male per house was best and we never had Percy or Dewey (at least not yet. Well the "we" changed once or twice since that day but not Nicky's love for this new breed she discovered back in 1980.

Our first Rottweiler "Corie" (Legacy's Cordon Rouge von Ursa) came to us in February 1988.  All the research about the breed told us that this was a great breed but that they were not for everyone.  Being new to the area, we also found we didn't know enough about place where we bought her.  However, we got very lucky and eventully got to know the breeder of the champion sire of our pup who was well known in the show circuit in Florida, Rebecca Chriscoe.  The name of our kennel means red ribbon in french after the red ribbon Corie won in her first match at 3 months old.  Even though it wasn't first, it was a first for us!  We have included a short description of each of our dogs just to give you an idea of their personalities.
